Paro -Thimpu
The day begin with a visit to the ruins of drugyeldzong. This Dzong is of historical importance, from whose ramparts the Bhutanese repelled Tibetan invders. On a clear day, the 24000 ft. white domed peak of sacred chomolhari(Mountains of Goddes) looms over head . Afternoon visit Ta Dzong the national Museum house in an ancient thanghka paintings, textiles, weapons and atifacts. In the evening, a 2-hour drive through the paro and Thimpu vlleys to the capital of Bhutan (alt.7500 ft.) En-route visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress of of its kind which once guarded the Thimpu valley. Overnight stay at hotel in Thimpu.
Thimpu - Paro
Today, sightseeing tin Thimpu includes. The visit to the national library. The School of Thangkha painting and the Tradition Medicine Institute, where centuries old healing are still practiced. Then, visit Handicrafts Emporium to see the expuisite artistry of traditional crafts and textiles and take a stroll through the streets for a little shopping. Afternoon visit the Memorial chorten to his late Majesty. In the evening drive back to Paro. Overnight stay at hotel in Paro.
